The City of Tshwane municipality is appealing to residents to limit electricity consumption to an absolute minimum following massive lightning strike.

The City of Tshwane municipality is appealing to residents to limit electricity consumption to an absolute minimum following massive lightning strike.

Areas struck by lightning are Pumulani, Montana, Hartebeesfontein, Zeekoegat and Montana Agricultural holdings.

The affected areas are being advised to limit electricity consumption to a transformer at Pumulani Substation on Monday.

The geographic outlay of the affected area is East of DR Van der Merwe drive North and South of Zambezi in Montana, east across the N1, following the mountain range as far as Baviaanspoort Correctional Services and North around Roodeplaat Dam up to Petro Port and east to Zeekoegat.

Municipality spokesman Console Tleane said people must switch off their geysers in the evenings between and during the day. - Sipho Masombuka
