Limping Free State fired up
The Free State province's development team coach, David "Chippa" Sefali is confident that his charges will beat KwaZulu-Natal and lift the coveted Safa Under-17 Youth Challenge title at Bophelong Stadium in Vanderbijlpark tomorrow.
Kickoff is at 12.30pm.
He said this despite the fact that the Free Staters will go into tomorrow's final with only 10 players after their reliable midfielder Mooketsi Moorosi picked up a serious groin injury against Limpopo yesterday.
Since the kickoff of the competition on Monday, Free State had only 11 players available for the tournament. This was after they found out that five of their registered players were also registered with the South Africa Schools Football Association, who are also participating in the tournament.
Sefali said his players will be motivated to win the cup in dedication to Moorosi and the community of Free State.
"My charges have vowed to end the six-day tournament with an unbeaten record and finally win the prestigious trophy," said Sefali.
Yesterday at Bophelong Stadium, Free State won the Inland Stream after routing a limping Limpopo 4-0 in one-way traffic. KwaZulu-Natal topped the Coastal Stream by humiliating Northern Cape 8-0 at the same venue yesterday.
