Poet and musician Mzwakhe Mbuli, pictured, plans to steal the thunder at the east London Festival next month. London mayor Ken Livingstone has invited him to be a special guest at the launch event on March 1.

Mbuli, who has been given permission by the parole board to travel, jets off to London on February 28, together with officials from his recording company CCP.

"I am humbled by the invitation.

"It shows the world is aware of the creative work we have been doing at home," Mbuli said.
