Initiation school will help to identify corpse
Police are to consult an illegal initiation school in an attempt to establish the identity of a man found dead nearby.
Vaal police were yesterday expected to talk to the committee of a local initiation school and to examine their register of initiates in an effort to establish the identity of the dead man, whose body was found near Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, on Tuesday.
Captain William Mcera said the man's naked body, which had injuries on the back, was found next to the nearby river where initiation rites are performed.
Mcera said the police think that the 25-year-old man might have been an initiate at the school.
"We have not located his family but, because of the area he was found in and the injuries he had, we believe that he was an initiate," Mcera said.
