In Pretoria on December 13, Deputy Finance Minister Jabu Moleketi announced that the government guarantees the safety of soccer fans visiting South Africa for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
It is very rare for any government anywhere in the world to make such a claim, for the simple reason that no police force anywhere in the world can realistically make such a false guarantee.
No matter how many police officers you have, it is an impossible claim to make.
The minister is apparently trying to score himself some political brownie points with this brazen disinformation.
