Youth act to be reviewed: Manamela

The NYDA should be accessible and bring relevance regarding job opportunities and bursaries available for the young people

The National Youth Development Act will be reviewed, Deputy Minister of Performance and Monitoring in the Presidency, Buti Manamela said on Monday.

"The proposal to review and amend the National Youth Development Act is to make sure it becomes a viable catalyst for the youth," Manamela said at The New Age breakfast briefing in Johannesburg.

The act gave birth to the youth development organisation, the National Youth Development Agency.

Manamela said the act would also be assessed to establish its progress since it was implemented in 2008.

"The NYDA should be accessible and bring relevance regarding job opportunities and bursaries available for the young people," he said.

The briefing was broadcast live on SABC2.
