Free library access

LIBRARY users throughout Cape Town now have free and unlimited access to the best Encyclopaedia Britannica educational resources, thanks to a newly launched nation-building partnership.

As part of this potentially illiteracy and alliteracy-busting partnership, the City of Cape Town Library and Information Services Department has entered into a long-term licensing agreement with Encyclopaedia Britannica to provide its free digital content to the 101 community libraries, namely:

- Primary Britannica, for users aged between five and 11;

- Britannica Student, for 12 to 18, and;

- Britannica Online, for adults.

Sowetan has learnt that library users who are registered to use the city's public access network, known as SmartCape, will have immediate access to these resources.
