Retailer offers refunds on Bonang Matheba’s book
The outcry over grammatical errors in Bonang Matheba’s book raged for more than a week on social media.
Those who had purchased the book were disappointed as even the media personality’s date of birth was incorrect.
At the height of the storm, the book’s publisher Thabiso Mahlape of Black Bird Books took the blame for the errors.
An aggrieved Mahlape stated in an interview that she took ‘full responsibility’.
“I take full responsibility for what happened. The last thing I want is for black people to be accused of mediocrity and I should do better. It’s on me as the publisher. I ought to have done better‚” she said.
Now Exclusive Books which stocked and sold the books has announced that they’re offering customers who bought a copy a refund. Customers should return the copy bought however.
The store posted a statement on their social media pages. The store also states that they ‘understand’ that a new edition of the book will be released.
