However, as she was still earning royalties from her 2011 album '21' and her 2012 Bond song 'Skyfall', the 27-year-old star's firm Melted Stone Ltd. owes the money in corporation tax, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.

Adele has previously spoken out about having to pay so much tax, saying: ''I use the NHS [National Health Service], I can't use public transport anymore.

Most state schools are s**t, I've gotta give you, like, four million quid... are you having a laugh?''

The 'Rolling in the Deep' hitmaker is worth an estimated £50 million and her latest record - which was released in October - sold over 3 million copies in its first week.

And Adele has admitted she still has five ''really great'' songs leftover from when she was writing the album. She said previously: ''There are definitely four or five other songs that I would definitely revisit. We didn't finish it in time and also it just felt like maybe I should be like, 32, when I do it rather than 27?''
