Denise Zimba defends her Channel O awards dress
It seems like award shows have now become about who will show up more naked on the red carpet.
Actress Pam Andrews and presenter Denise Zimba were the talk of the town this weekend after they both showed up at the channel O awards in dresses that left very little to the imagination.
Both their black sheer dresses only covered the ‘good bits’ and provided much entertainment for men who couldn’t stop drooling over the pictures.
Sowetan Live caught up with Zimba who is also part of the new Generations cast at the show’s launch this morning.
“For me, everyone has their opinion. I feel like we fought so hard for freedom of speech I want people to have whatever they want to say put out there if it makes them feel better,” Zimba said when asked about the social media debates over her dress.
“I was part of the creation of the design, I knew exactly what I wanted to wear. I feel like I’m not gonna be 26 forever, I feel like I’m not gonna have this body forever. I am obsessed with my body because I work hard for it so if I feel like I want to be butt naked that’s what I’m gonna do,” says the outspoken actress.
Zimba also added that she wasn’t offended by the negative comments she received from people.
“If people like it, then cool if they don’t it really doesn’t matter because I’m still going to continue doing what I want to do,” she says.
On arriving at the show in the same dress as Andrews, she had this to say:
“Pam’s dress was similar to mine so as soon as I saw it I was like I can’t do the red carpet now because people are gonna think I’m copying her so I missed the red carpet and went and enjoyed the show”.
However Zimba maintained that there’s no bad blood between the two.
“Pam for me is a daring woman. I love women that are comfortable in their skin and have no desire to make anyone happy but themselves.”
