One on one with Skwatta Kamp's Nemza

Sowetan Live caught up with hip hop group Skwatta Kamp member to hear about his new album and future plans.

1. Where have you been since Skwatta Kamp ?

- I have always been around doing shows with Skwatta kamp and also experimenting with my own music in the studio. I never really left.

2. Did you make a career change ?

- No I did not do a career change, I was basically busy exploring the entrepreneurial side of me but music has always been a part of me.

3. Why the decision to release an album now?

- I believe that the time for me to take my rightful place as a solo artist in the music industry has come, hence the decision to release the album.

4.  Are you planning to work with any of your Skwatta Kamp band members or did you work with them?

- Yeah I did do a song with Flabba and Nish, my other SK brothers are also around to help so we are still brothers as usual.

5. The Hip Hop industry has changed, what makes your album different since skwatta kamp?

- Skwatta kamp was a collage of seven individual with different mindstates so regardless of my input in the group I will always be me and that is what you get when you listen to my music. So I guess the music industry is about to change again with this album.

6. Is there any chance of Skwatta camp getting back together?

- Skwatta kamp has never broken up and more music is coming.

7. Why the Album name “Destiny”?

- Like I said earlier that the time for me to take my rightful place has come, hence I believe that this is my destiny and no man can change what God has put into action.

8. If you could change one thing about the music industry what would it be?

- I would change this mentality that musicians have, that they must always suck up to Americans whenever an American comes here for a show because truth is that our musicians will never get the credit and respect they deserve if they keep accepting peanuts and crappy attitude every time an American comes around.
