AFRO-SOUL singer Zonke Dikana's sold-out live DVD concert has been postponed due to the loss of her older sister Busisiwe Dikana.

Busisiwe reportedly died at the weekend. The cause of death was not disclosed. Due to this loss, Zonke has postponed all performances in the foreseeable future.

Zonke's Give and Take live DVD concert, previously scheduled to take place at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg next weekend, has been postponed to July 5. Tickets will now be valid for this new date.

"Zonke and her family are devastated at this sudden loss, but she wishes to extend her greatest apologies to the media and fans out there and thanks them for the continuous support," the singer's publicist Jani Roodt said in a statement yesterday.

Zonke and her other sister, Lulu - who is also a singer - have not tweeted much since their sister' s death .

Lulu only sent out a tweet that simply said: "Thank you" to a fan who sent condolences to both her and Zonke.

Busisiwe's last tweet, on May 9, reads: "Intombi zika Bra Viva" (Bra Viva's daughters), responding to a picture of her two popular sisters. Viva was the nickname of their late musician father, Vuyisile Dikana, who was a respected jazz drummer. He died in 2009.

Zonke pays tribute to Bra Viva in the song, Viva the Legend, from her double platinum selling album Ina Ethe.

Theirstepmother, Anneline Malebo, who was a singer died in 2002.

Zonke's DVD concert sold out in just seven days after tickets were issued, according to her twitter feed. The singer also tweeted that she would be performing all her songs, as well as those she has written for other acts, accompanied by a 20-piece band. - ngubanes@sowetan.co.za
