Bruno Mars: I'm in beast mode

Bruno Mars is in "beast mode" because he thinks it is important his music reflects different sides to his personality.

The 'Locked Out of Heaven' hitmaker has taken a new direction for his latest album 'Unorthodox Jukebox' and thinks it is important to keep varying his sound.

He said: "Let's just say I'm in beast mode now. I've shown that lover-boy side of me - does anyone really want me to come back and sing 'Just The Way You Are, Part Two'?

"As much as I love that song, I feel like I need to express other areas of love, relationships, girls and sex."

Bruno, 27, has been performing since the age of four and even had his mum create his signature hair look of a pompadour, hair swept upwards from the face and worn high over the forehead.

He added to InStyle magazine: "My dad brought me up on stage one night with his doo-woop group, and I started wiggling my hips. I got my first Elvis jumpsuit when I was four. My mom use to blow-dry my hair to give me a pompadour."

"Damn straight [it's my signature look]! But it was becoming too much. I've seen everybody wearing it, so I retired it. Now I wake up, shower, and leave my hair as it is. Curly hair is a pain. That's why I wear so many hats."
