With just over a week to go before the second annual Limpopo Pride march, organisers are still fighting to click their stiletto heels on a "more convenient" route than the one approved by the Polokwane municipality.

Cindy Molefe, director and organiser of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender festival on May 11, said they would like to circle the Polokwane Cricket Club.

"We are going to meet with the people from the municipality one more time to try and get the route we want," Molefe said.

The municipality wants the procession to move from the SABC Park in Hospital Street onto Hans van Rensburg Street and then towards the cricket club.

Molefe said it would be more convenient to park vehicles at the cricket club and walk around it than to park near SABC Park and then need to return there afterwards to collect vehicles.

Municipal spokeswoman, Matshediso Mothapo, said: "I am not aware of any negotiations on the route.

"In Polokwane we have a standard route for all marches. Landdros Mare Street is the main route into the city and we would not want people using it as we have to consider traffic flow.

"We are aware of them complaining and they claim it is discrimination.

"I can assure you that it is not. This is a standard route," she said.

Molefe said organisers expected between 1000 and 1500 people to take part in the march.
