Pastor Mahlangu hankers after 4 Crown Gospel awards

GOSPEL star Solly Mahlangu will be completely happy if he wins all four SABC Crown Gospel Awards he has been nominated for.

Mahlangu, a pastor, is one of the musicians who got more than a single nomination at the launch on Friday in Sandton.

Having recently released his second album, Mwamba Mwamba, Mahlangu has been nominated in the Best Song, Best Male Artist, Best DVD and Best Praise Album categories.

"To receive four nominations is a truly humbling experience. Now I hope South Africans will help me make that clean sweep - it will be overwhelming," Mahlangu said.

"I am saying this because three categories are judged by public votes and it is possible that I might take four out of four."

But Mahlangu was quick to add: "I know I am up against the best musicians and if I don't take four out four I will understand. We just have to wait and see."

But Mahlangu's mission to make a clean sweep will be made difficult by people like Abbey Sibiya, Israel Mosehla and Reality 7, who also got four nominations.

Musicians who got three nominations include Sifiso Ncwane, Kgotso Makgalema, Nqubeko Mbatha and Katlehong Choir.

Sifiso Ncwane, who won the Best Male Artist last year, said: "I am happy to be nominated in the same category again. I think the male category is the toughest. I am up against the best gospel musicians in the industry."

The awards will take place on November 4 at the Durban's ICC.
