Class Act is back on the small screen

Last year's winner, Sdumo Mtshali, has some advice for those interested in emulating his rise to stardom.

POPULAR SABC1 show Amstel Class Act is back on the screen from April 23 and last year's winner, Sdumo Mtshali, has some advice for those interested in emulating his rise to stardom.

The competition was launched yesterday at the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square, hosted by the show's presenter, Kenneth Nkosi, Donovan Marsh, the creator and director of the show, representatives of SABC1 and Curious Pictures.

Nkosi, who was master of ceremonies, was his humorous self throughout the proceedings.

"My advice to those who will compete this time around is that they must remain who they are and be honest to the character they will be playing. That way they will go far," Mtshali said.

It was also announced that this time around there will be two winners, a woman and a man. The show is also bigger and the prizes more attractive.

There will be mass auditions for the competition, starting in Cape Town on March 5, Durban on March 12, Pretoria on March 19, and Johannesburg on April 2 and April 3. This time around, the show will be screened every Saturday at 6.30pm, starting on April 23, and then in the sixth week (on May 30) every Monday there will be a half-hour elimination show live at 7pm.

The producers withheld announcing the judges, preferring to keep it as "a surprise", but confirmed that there would be an opportunity for audiences to walk home with prizes.
