Durban to usher in new year in style

DURBAN is gearing up to usher in the new year with finesse. Gospel lovers will be given an opportunity to cross over to 2011 in great style as gospel sensation Sifiso Ncwane will be hosting a six-to-six gospel star event on the corner of Park and West streets in a white tent from today until tomorrow morning

Jazz lovers will also not be left out this festive season. At Nanda Dam, KwaNgcolosi, there will be a jazz picnic show on Sunday.

Expect performances from Joe Nina, pictured, Shabalala Rhythm, Bongani Nkwanyana and Sam Manjeya.

DJ Kini Shandu of Gagasi 99.5, Irvin Sihlophe of Ukhozi FM will be there. Mandla Mdletshe will be the MC.

Durban will come alive with the Lifestyle Oasis White-Mischief Weekend, which will end on Sunday.

The event always dazzles and hosts fun-filled activities with your fair share of local celebrities, great DJs and a killer entertainment line-up.

Another Durban must is the Glenwood New Year's Eve café-style street festival at which the Glenwood community forum will hold an elegant café-styled festival in the streets of Glenwood.

The Ballito New Year's Eve street party in Sandra Street attracts more than 10000 people each year.

This year 5FM will be taking the helm with 5FM's DJs Fresh, Euphonik, Erica Elle and rapper Jack Parow on the decks.

Peter Pan Adult Panto will take place at Musgrave Supper Theatre today and will end around 10pm so people can move on to other parties.

The Fantastical Flea Circus ends on January 9.

Roll up, roll up and go and see the circus at the Catalina Theatre for some jolly surprises.
