Gospel awards ready to roll

DURBAN is rolling out the red carpet to welcome international and local celebrities, politicians, pastors and gospel music fans for the third Crown Gospel Music Awards.

The event takes place on November 21 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

Apart from the fashion, glitz and glamour the awards are known for, gospel music fans and the public can look forward to an amazing night of celebrations, praise, worship and joy.

Awards chairperson Sbu Buthelezi said: "We are confident that we have all our ducks in a row. The band has started rehearsing and the in-house awards choir is hard at work. If one goes around one is greeted by colourful street banners, so we are ready."

Celebrity choreographer Somizi Mhlongo is taking care of all the amazing dance moves that will be happening on stage to prove once again that gospel music is never boring.

Founder and awards president Zanele Mbokazi said the audience could expect glitz and glamour, beautiful people dressed to kill as usual, and more surprises this time around.

When asked which category had been the most popular, Mbokazi said the biggest category was the Best Newcomer, which received a record 78 nominations.

"This category has been very popular and this can only mean that the future of gospel is so bright."
