I'm not Portia Modise - Banyana striker

No one in the Banyana Banyana team wants to be compared with legendary striker Portia Modise, especially Jermaine Seopesenwe.

She may have looked up to the retired Modise, but Seopesenwe says she is not in the team to replace anyone.

Last weekend in Libreville, the US-based striker bagged a brace in a 2016 Rio Olympics qualifier against Gabon as Banyana snatched a 3-2 win in the first leg.

She's no Portia Modise, but Seopesenwe is somebody Banyana coach Vera Pauw can rely on for goals.

"It's good to score. It's my job because I am a striker, but I am not going to put too much pressure on myself," the 21-year-old striker said.

"I am not here to replace anyone. I looked up to her and she was brilliant. But I am just here to do my job and do what the coach is counting on me to do."

It's advantage Banyana heading into the second leg in Dobsonville on Sunday (3pm), but Seopesenwe said the team should guard against being complacent.

"There's always a chance of them coming back. They can get a goal and the momentum can shift to their favour. We need to go into the game the same way we did when we went to Gabon," Seopesenwe said.

Banyana will play Botswana or Kenya in the penultimate round of qualifiers if they beat Gabon on Sunday.
