Eric Tinkler says winning away against Orlando Pirates is always going to be difficult.

But as Cape Town City head north for their Absa Premiership game against the Bucs at the Orlando Stadium‚ Tinkler says it is important to go for the win.

It is an early reunion for the new City coach up against the club he left in May after some 18 months in charge‚ including reaching the final of the African Confederation Cup.

“It’s always difficult against Orlando Pirates‚” Tinkler said.

“Right now‚ we’ve all seen Tendai Ndoro. He is always a threat. The goal he scored against Ajax (shows) he’s the type of player that if you give a lot of space‚ he will hurt you.

“I think they have made a number of very good signings. (Abubbakar) Mobara … I like this boy (Bernard) Morrison.

“But I think they are certain weaknesses from what I’ve seen‚ especially defensively.

“But they are always a talented team. They are always going to be a threat especially when their tails are up.

“When they are winning they are an extremely dangerous team and hard to beat. So it is not going to be an easy task to go there and get a win.

“But we will go with a positive mindset. But‚ as I’ve said before‚ these are not the games you worry about because the players will be highly motivate.”

Tinkler‚ whose two previous away trips with City both ended in defeat and whose new club have yet to score a goal on the road‚ insisted they would seek an upset victory.

Asked about his feeling playing against his old club‚ he simply said: “I want to win. We need to win. We need to get back to winning ways.

“Even though we could not get victory over Wits in the MTN8‚ drawing with them on Saturday was good for our confidence.

“That gives a bit more motivation and confidence for ourselves for the match against Pirates‚ We want to approach every day with the attitude that we want to win.

“So we are not going to Orlando Pirates for a draw‚ we are going there for a win. But we got to plan and prepare properly.”
