Mayambela makes his Swede debut

Mihlali Mayambela became the second member of his family to turn out for top Swedish side Djurgardens when he made his debut in a 3-1 cup defeat to Hammarby.

The 19-year-old follows in the footsteps of older brother Mark, now at SuperSport United, who spent a season with the club in 2014 before returning to the PSL.

The younger Mayambela came off the bench to play on the left wing but could not help his side as they dropped out of the Swedish Cup this season.

He will hope for more game-time when the side begins their league campaign at Orebro on April 3.

There was also double disappointment for South Africans playing in Denmark.

Mandla Masango came off the bench for Randers 10 minutes into the second half but could not turn around the fortunes of his team as they lost 1-0 to Esbjerg.

The result sees the side slip to sixth in the table and well off the pace for the Uefa Europa League qualification spots.

There was also disappointment for Lebogang Phiri at Brondby as they lost 3-1 to SønderjyskE.

Masango is also still in with a chance of silverware as Randers face FC Copenhagen in their quarterfinal next week Wednesday.

Dino Ndlovu drew a rare blank this season as Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta got off to a bad start in the championship playoffs following a 3-0 loss to Omonia in their opening game.

Thulani Serero had to be happy with a place on the bench for Ajax Amsterdam as they defeated Willem II 4-0 in the Netherlands.
