Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza is pleased to be shortlisted for CAF Footballer of the Year Awards for players based in Africa.

The Ladysmith born goal-scorer has been instrumental for the Buccaneers throughout the continental competition.

The 28 year-old Gabuza has scored five goals for Bucs since the beginning of CAF Cup tournament, helping his side to advance to the final stages of the campaign.

"Its an honour to be shortlisted. It will be great if we get all the way to the end," Gabuza said.

"We aren't looking too far ahead though. We're just keeping our feet on the ground and letting the performances do the talking.

"I'd like to thank the people who have made it possible for me to get nominated, my team, the coaches, everyone."

Pirates will host the nine times Tunisian League champions Etoile du Sahel for CAF honours in two legs, with Orlando Stadium likely to be a venue for the opening clash on November 21.
