Raheem Sterling's family receives death threats

Raheem Sterling's £49million transfer from Liverpool to Premier League rivals Manchester City has seen a range of death threats to his family from supporters.

His girlfriend Paige Milian and daughter are reported to have been at the receiving end of death threats as well as racist abuse from unhappy Liverpool fans fans.

Unhappy Reds supporters took to social media to vent their anger to the star’s family.

Sterling attracted much media attention after pulling out of the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East following the confirmation by Man City that the England international has signed a five-year deal worth £180,000-a-week.

According to the Daily Star: “Milian was bombarded with 5,000 hate-filled messages on her public Instagram account - which subsequently went private.”

“The derogatory comments towards her included being branded a 'b****', 'n*****' as well as a 'money-grabbing w****'.”

The Merseyside Police have already begun with investigation on the threats.

"The language used in these tweets is abhorrent,” a spokesman for Merseyside Police is quoted telling the website.

"People who use the Internet to target others and who commit criminal offences such as harassment or hate crime in doing so are not beyond the law and can expect to be brought to justice."

Sterling had turned down the £100,000-a-week contract offer from Liverpool.
