City target Swallows' porous defence

AFTER the catastrophe at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday, the last team wounded Moroka Swallows would want to face is Kosta Papic's in-form Polokwane City.

Swallows looked like kids still taking a lesson in football in their 4-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, and now meet a City side coached by a man who believes in the words "attack, attack, attack".

City host 14th placed Swallows at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium tomorrow at 8.15pm, itching to harass the visitors' vulnerable defence. The Dube Birds have conceded 31 goals, but it's still better than the 33 City have let in.

Jabu Maluleke, City's set-piece specialist, is looking forward to testing Swallows goalkeeper Greg Etafia, who came under fire for his howlers in the heavy defeat to Sundowns. "If I keep getting opportunities to take set pieces, then I am sure one will go in," the skipper said.

"They are not strong at the back, so we should put them under pressure. We are also struggling in defence, but we are working on it."

University of Pretoria, meanwhile, go into their clash against Free State Stars at Goble Park tomorrow (3.30pm) looking to extend their unbeaten run to six matches. Tuks moved up to eighth place following a 2-1 victory over Chippa United on Tuesday.

"We need to get a positive result. We've got a eye on what other teams are doing, but I told the players that we have to do the job ourselves. We can't rely on others," Tuks coach Sammy Troughton said.

SuperSport United are probably still wondering how they squandered a two-goal lead in midweek against Ea Lla Koto. Matsatsantsa face Mpumalanga Black Aces at Mbombela Stadium tomorrow, while Chippa United host Maritzburg United at Wolfson Stadium.

Both games kick off at 3.30pm.

On Sunday, bottom of the table AmaZulu travel to Free State Stadium for a tough encounter against Bloemfontein Celtic at 3.30pm.

AmaZulu suffered yet another defeat in midweek, squandering a goal lead to lose 2-1 to Pirates.
