Kaizer Chiefs considering friendly against Borussia Dortmund

Kaizer Chiefs are considering an invitation to travel to Spain next week to play a friendly against Borussia Dortmund at the renowned La Manga resort.

But because only part of the trip would be sponsored, the club was still considering budgets for the trip and would only make a decision today, said coach Stuart Baxter.

Alternatively, they plan to head to Cape Town later this month for a handful of friendly matches and to continue their preparations for the restart of the Premier Soccer League as well as participation in the CAF Champions League.

Baxter said they were thrilled to receive the invitation to play Dortmund, who have been struggling this season but remain one of Europe's top teams.

Jurgen Klopp's side is second from bottom in the league standings, with just four wins in 17 matches, but is through to the knockout stage of the Champions League, where they meet Italian giants Juventus next month.

Dortmund are spending a week at La Manga - a sports-specific resort many top clubs head to for the warm weather and its football facilities.

Amakhosi have never played outside of the African continent. The furthest north they have been is to Egypt, when they were beaten by Zamalek in Cairo in the Champions Cup 22 years ago.
