The Clever Boys claimed a fourth win in five league games when they beat Ajax Cape Town 4-2 at Milpark on Wednesday, thanks to a Sibusiso Vilakazi hat-trick.
Vilakazi believes only consistent performances will fuel the challenge against Amakhosi, who they now trail by 11 points with three rounds remaining until the Christmas break.
"I hope by the time we go into the break we would have reduced the distance between us and the team on top," said Vilakazi.
It has been a strange start to the season for the player who scooped major accolades at last season's Premier Soccer League awards.
Opening his account for the season with a hat-trick wasn't a bad way to announce his return, however.
