ZOLANI Marali will show his superior fighting skills against the equally competent Mike Arnaoutis on May 24, says trainer Allan Toweel jnr.

They will collide for Marali's WBF welterweight belt at East London's Orient Theatre. Marali's title defence - his second at home in East London - will be staged by Xaba Promotions and Events of promoter Ayanda Matiti.

Toweel - the Johannesburg-based son of late legendary trainer Allan Toweel - described the 34-year-old New York-based Greek challenger as a tremendous fighter.

"Don't be misled by the number of losses he has. This guy has lost 10 of his 37 fights but to highly rated fighters. He is a type of a fighter that will give Zolani lots of trouble, but we have the right strategy in place to beat him," said Toweel.

Arnaoutis lost to some of the great names in the game, including Kendall Holt, Victor Ortiz, Delvin Rodriguez and Danny Garcia. In his last fight two weeks ago, Arnaoutis - originally from Athens - stopped Andrei Staliarchuk in two rounds in what turned out to be his 12th KO in his 25th win.

Added Toweel: "We will reveal the strategy on the night of the fight.

"Zolani is an underdog. Actually, he was an underdog even in his defence against Mzolisi Yoyo on September 15 last year.

"But he beat him hands down ... we will do it again, come May 24 Zolani will show his superior ring generalship. Training is going very well and Zolani will show that he is still one of the best fighters in the country."

The former South African, IBO and WBF super bantamweight, WBF and IBO junior lightweight champion, has 23 wins, with 13 KOs in 28 fights.

Marali last fought against Yoyo on September 15.
