Farewell to Bucs

GOVERNMENT and various organisations have urged the nation to rally behind Orlando Pirates in their quest to win a second African Champions League title.

Pirates departed for Egypt last night for the eagerly awaited second-leg final showdown against Al Ahly, to be played at 6pm [South African time] on Sunday.

Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula, other government officials and Lead SA bosses were at OR Tambo International Airport to see Bucs off.

"Pirates have united the entire country, it is good to see supporters of Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns, Moroka Swallows and other clubs rooting for Pirates," said Mbalula, who will be in Cairo on Sunday to root for Pirates.

Proudly SA chief executive Leslie Sedibe said they were fully behind the Buccaneers.

South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan said he was highly impressed by the performance of Pirates in this tournament.
