ORLANDO Pirates will play their next Champions League match in Egypt next weekend, despite the fluid situation in the strife-torn country.

Almost 1000 people have been killed in the past week in violence across Egypt and a state of emergency was declared as the country's military firm up their control and crack down on the supporters of president Mohamed Mursi, who was overthrown last month.

But the Confederation of African Football has determined it is still safe to go ahead with matches there.

The Buccaneers will play Zamalek on September 1 at El Gouna, the same stadium where they scored a remarkable 3-0 triumph against holders Al Ahly earlier this month.

Al Ahly will host AC Leopards of Congo at the same venue in the other Group A match the day before.

Pirates will leave for Egypt on Tuesday, which is why their league game away at Ajax Cape Town has been postponed yet again.

They were advised by the embassy in Cairo to rather travel earlier in the week than towards Friday when there has traditionally been an escalation of violence.

Bucs will be back one week later but officials are confident they will not be exposed to any of the strife in the coastal resort of Hurgarda, which is next to El Gouna.

It is a tourist area on the Red Sea where a bigger threat to Pirates is likely to be the extremely hot weather.

It is almost 300km from the tension of Cairo and both matches are to be held behind closed doors at the insistence of the Egyptian authorities.
