Top SA junior tennis players do battle in Gauteng

Tennis fever has hit Gauteng as over 600 junior tennis players from across the country have arrived in Johannesburg to participate in the Dunlop Junior Classic which takes place from 29 March to 2 April.

The annual tournament is the Gauteng Central Tennis Association’s premier junior event and is part of the national Key Health series, making it one of the most prestigious junior tennis events in the country. One of the strongest line-ups of players in the history of the tournament has been confirmed for the 2013 event.

Boys and girls in the under 12, 14, 16 and 18 age categories, will compete in the gold and platinum draws at different tennis clubs throughout the City of Joburg as well as at Gauteng Central Tennis Association’s headquarters, the famous “grand old lady of tennis” Ellis Park Tennis Stadium.

Bruce Gray, President of Gauteng Central Tennis Association says his Association is ready to deliver a great event. “We are excited at hosting another edition of the Dunlop Junior Classic. The tournament has proved to be a success in the past and together with our sponsors, Dunlop, we are looking to make this our flagship tournament of the year.”

From Johannesburg, the players will travel to the national Capital where the Dunlop Junior Open will be held. The tournament to be played from 3 to 7 April will be played at several tennis clubs in and around Pretoria with the Groenkloof Stadium serving as the tournaments headquarters. The Pretoria event also forms part of the national Key Health series.
