FOUR Alexandra athletics clubs have been roped in by Nike to host Sunday's inaugural We Run Jozi 10km road race, which is expected to attract more than 20000 people from across Gauteng.

The sponsors' communications manager Seruscka Naidoo has identified the clubs as Alexandra Athletics, Alexandra Beaters, Tsutsumani and Phuthaditshaba. She said the race will start on Katherine Street in Sandton, cross over to Alexandra and then onto the M1 highway.

We Run Series is a global event introduced by the popular sports apparel company, who also sponsor London Olympics 800m silver medallist Caster Semenya.

Naidoo said: "Around the globe, Nike's We Run Series aims to empower communities to achieve greatness. Whether it's reaching a new personal best or achieving a long-standing goal, through one running voice, 20000 runners will find their greatness on the streets of Jozi. Alex clubs are over the moon to be involved.
