Maphathe for Amajita's Nigeria date

ATTACKING midfielder Katleho Maphathe is the only new player selected by Amajita coach Solly Luvhengo for Friday night's clash with Nigeria in Mbombela.

Maphathe, who plays for National First Division side Winter Roses - which is guided by former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper John Tlale - has impressed Luvhengo.

He has joined the South African Under-20 side, who are in camp at a lodge in Mbombela, where they are preparing for their 2013 African Youth Championships first leg match against Nigeria.

South Africa reached the second round of the tournament after brushing aside Congo-Brazzaville, while Nigeria eliminated Tanzania.

"It's the big one, especially considering we are starting at home," said Luvhengo. "The good thing is that we have already defeated Nigeria at home in May during the Cape Town International Cup.

"Our aim is to go to Nigeria without having to bring along the calculators, we need to make things easier for ourselves by winning comfortably on Friday."

Luvhengo has urged fans in Mbombela to support the team.

Thabani Mthembu, who single-handedly eliminated Congo with a goal in both legs, has been allowed by Platinum Stars to join the team.
