FORMER Bafana Bafana defensive midfielder Masilo Modubi is happy his career is back on track after a hamstring injury almost brought it to an end.
The Seshego-born player has featured in seven of eight matches so far - five league and two cup - for his new club Desselsport in Belgium.
"My future looks very rosy and I want to thank God that I'm back in action after kicking my heels for almost a season," said Modubi, who started all seven games.
Modubi missed one game this season after being sent off against his former club, Westerlo. "It's one of those things; I think I was a bit emotional. The support I have been getting here at Desselsport has been simply the best; I have to reward them for believing in me after a long lay-off because of hamstring.
"There was a time where I was even contemplating quitting soccer because injuries were messing me up. It was frustrating watching from the stands," he said.
"We are 10th on the log but we are still in the running for promotion to the premiership. The clubs finishing number one and two at the end of the season gain automatic promotion.
"I think we will make it, but we have to work hard," said Modubi, who holds a European passport after spending more than 10 years in Belgium. Modubi went to Westerlo in 2000 via Chelsea, who signed him along with BoyBoy Mosia and the late Jeffrey Ntuka. They were spotted by Chelsea scouts while playing for Transnet School of Excellence in the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland in 2000. After failing to obtain an international passport to play for Chelsea, Modubi was loaned to Westerlo.
