AFTER escaping relegation by a whisker last season, Black Leopards are eager to start their new Premiership season with a bang by sending Bloemfontein Celtic back to Free State empty-handed.
Lidoda Duvha, who have signed seven new players, welcome Phunya SeleSele to Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane tomorrow.
Kickoff is at 3pm.
The reinforcements signed by Leopards chairman David Thidiela are Junga Monganga, Tommy Mandlazi, Odimba Langa, Ayanda Mtshali, Mondli Miya, Thulani Ntshingila and Abbas Amidu.
"We have learnt from our mistakes of the past season. It is not good to start intensifying the challenge for maximum points towards the end of the season; we want to finish well inside the top eight bracket," Thidiela said.
"We had a meeting with the players and technical staff to plan for the new season after our CAF Confederation Cup campaign to map the way forward for the PSL calendar.
"It was a unanimous decision that we need to start by winning early in the season to avoid putting ourselves under pressure.
"I pity Celtic, they will go back to Free State empty-handed," said Thidiela, whose side were defeated 2-0 by Celtic in the opening league fixture in Bloemfontein last season. Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco said: "Opening league matches are always difficult, but we are ready to embarrass Leopards in their own back yard." Leopards captain Mongezi Bobe and co will have to be at their best to avoid going down to the Letladi Madubanya-led Celtic for the match.
