Schillo sticks to Toffees

STEVEN Pienaar has confirmed that he will undergo a medical at Everton today and complete his permanent move back to Merseyside.

The Bafana Bafana skipper's return to The Toffees, from Tottenham Hotspur, will finally be completed after the sale of Australian international Tim Cahill to the New York Red Bulls opened up space on Everton's wage bill.

Pienaar has already agreed terms with the Goodison Park club, while Everton and Spurs have reached agreement on a transfer fee, believed to be in the region of R35-million.

The medical is seen as a formality and Pienaar could conclude his return for a fourth spell at the club as early as tomorrow.

It will be good news too for national coach Gordon Igesund, as "Schillo" is virtually guaranteed a starting place at Everton.

Spurs coach Andre-Villas Boas had made it clear that Pienaar did not fit into his plans for the coming campaign, meaning the versatile midfielder faced the prospect of sitting on the bench or, worse, in the stands.

Sunderland and QPR did make late bids for Pienaar but he always had his heart set on Everton.
