Nkunzimbini pursue 2nd title

NKUNZIMBINI Primary School are chasing their second successive SA Schools Football Association national title after winning the 2011 Milo Cup.

The school, from Ngqeleni village in the Eastern Cape, have qualified to represent the province in the 2012 Danone Under-12 National Championships in Eldorado Park on June 23.

The overall winners will book themselves a place at the 40-nations World Finals in Warsaw, Poland, in September. All the other nine provinces have determined their winners. In Gauteng Sonqoba Primary from Ekurhuleni were crowned provincial champions last weekend.

Sasfa general secretary Steve Pila, who is also Safa's head of academies, said they were gearing up for an exciting national championships, which has already generated interest from some talent scouts.

"This is a great platform where the future Bafana Bafana stars will be seen in action, so we expect some of the scouts from various academies of the Premier Soccer League clubs and independent ones will be coming to look for new talent.

"With the winners going to represent South Africa at the international tournament in Poland later this year, we expect the competition to be a great one."

The draw will take place at Safa House on June 22.
