Downs don't want Orlando final

MAMELODI Sundowns are hoping to hear from the Premier Soccer League about possible recourse they might take to get the Nedbank Cup final venue switched to Tshwane.

The club feels strongly the May 26 decider against neighbours SuperSport United should be played in the capital and not Orlando Stadium as already decided by the PSL.

Last week Sundowns sent a letter of objection to the PSL after the league announced that the final would be in Soweto.

Sundowns said they had asked for an explanation from the league and about steps they could take to try to change the venue, especially if they were to come up against SuperSport in the final.

Sundowns commercial manager Yogesh Singh said: "They received an answer back saying the decision is final and are unclear on how to proceed if they wish to challenge it. We want to create a derby brand between Sundowns and SuperSport that might someday be as successful as Chiefs against Pirates - but we cannot advance these plans if we are forced to take the Tshwane derby to Joburg."
