Manqele on revenge mission

FREE State Stars' Edward Manqele has become such a serial goalscorer in the Absa Premiership that he finds himself in line to win the 2011/12 Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award in his maiden appearance in the top flight.

The Mohlakeng-born forward is currently on top of the scorers' chart with 11 strikes to his credit. His exploits also saw him being called up for duty with Bafana Bafana. Now Manqele is hoping to get a goal or two in the Free State derby against Bloemfontein Celtic tomorrow night.

The two sides will meet at Charles Mopeli Stadium and kickoff is at 7.30pm.

Phunya Selesele won the first round 1-0 at home in November, thanks to Moses Spandeel.

Manqele said: "I have been employed by Stars to score goals and everything has been going well. The support from the club has been incredible. They beat us in the first round, but I'm saying we did not deserve to lose that match. We will make Celtic pay for that defeat. The three points will remain in QwaQwa."

Ea Lla Koto general manager Rantsi Mokoena believes they have the beating of Celtic, saying his club has recovered from the defeat against Orlando Pirates last week.

"The first-round defeat by Celtic is one of the games we will never forget, especially after match officials denied us a penalty and a legitimate goal," Mokoena said yesterday.

"It was heart breaking to hear former professional referee Sylvester Ndaba admitting on television that match officials in that match erred."
