THE Springbok Sevens team have continued their unbeaten charge at the Sevens World Series leg in Las Vegas, setting up a cup semifinal against New Zealand.

The Blitzboks coasted past Argentina in the cup quarterfinals yesterday morning.

They stormed into an uncontested 14-0 half-time lead, with playmaker Cecil Afrika dotting down for his sixth try of the tournament shortly before the break, and drew in the second period.

The Argentines scored a consolation try through Diego Palma in the dying minutes, but the Blitzboks bagged a convincing 24-5 victory to stay in the top-tier playoffs.

Earlier, without senior players who were being rested, South Africa had defeated France 33-5 in their final first-round match to finish top of Pool C. Blitzboks captain Kyle Brown said the defending champions looked forward to the challenge offered by New Zealand, the series leaders.

"Our keywords have been teamwork and unity and so I am happy with how things have worked out so far," Brown said.

"Every series match is really tough but fortunately this tournament is stretched over three days, which gives you a bit more time to recover."
