PLATINUM Stars are convinced the arrival of four top players, including former Bafana Bafana defender Lucas Thwala, will help them accomplish their mission to finish in the top eight this season.

Besides Thwala, other new players who were snapped up during last month's transfer window period are Patrick Malokase, Chiukepu Msowoya and Mduduzi Nyanda.

Thwala, Malokase and Msowoya joined on loan from Orlando Pirates, while Nyanda rejoined the club from SuperSport United. Dikwena have also recruited rising star Sipho Jembula from Ali Mokoena's Soweto Panthers.

Stars media manager Aubrey Molobi said the new players were gelling well and gearing themselves up for the start of the second round of the Absa Premiership next Wednesday.

Stars kick off the second round with an away fixture against Ajax Cape Town and are hoping to make it two in a row against the Mother City side. Stars defeated them 2-0 in the first round.

"The technical team have been working very hard with all the players, including the new ones, during the Afcon break," Molobi said.

"The enthusiasm displayed by all the players has been incredible and the new players from Pirates have worked with coach Owen Da Gama. They are familiar with his coaching methods.

"Mduduzi was with us last season, so he is also at home. We want to finish well inside the top eight, so it is important to win our matches consistently."

Molobi also announced that tickets for Stars's first 2012 home game against Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on February 22 were already on sale at Computicket countrywide. They will be available at local outlets from today.

"Tickets are selling like hot cakes and it shows our people are hungry for PSL action after the Afcon break," Molobi said. "We want the people of the province to come out in their numbers to support the side as we will also parade new players."

Tickets for the game cost R40 for adults and R20 for juveniles.

The local outlets are: PH Network and Lucky's Pub in Phokeng, Foro Spar in Tlhabane, Micky's Geo Restaurant in Rustenburg, Tommy's Inn in Kanana and Mogwase Caltex Garage.
