Bulls assist students

POPULAR South African rugby team the Blue Bulls have teamed up with the Polokwane municipality in Limpopo in a partnership that will see many students getting funds to pursue their tertiary education.

The team will play a warm-up match against the Cheetahs at Peter Mokaba Stadium on February 11 before kicking off their 2012 Vodacom Super Rugby campaign on February 24 against the Sharks.

At a press conference in Polokwane yesterday, Blue Bulls Rugby Union president Louis Nel said the Bulls would field their strongest possible team against the Cheetahs to ensure that they generate funds at the event "to pave the way for further education for Polokwane pupils".

Last year the team played their warm-up fixture against the Lions at a packed Peter Mokaba Stadium that had fans overwhelmed and excited.

The municipality's executive mayor Freddy Greaver said he hoped this year's game would be a success. "I have no doubt that our partnership will pave the way to a bright future for our young learners, most of whom are unable to afford tertiary education," Greaver said.

Tickets for the game will range from R120 in the grandstand to R80 behind the poles and are available at the stadium as well as Computicket outlets.
