Wildbeasts in hunt for LSA title

LIMPOPO softball giants Lebowakgomo Wildbeasts have set their sights on the new Limpopo Softball Association (LSA) Zororo League.

Wildbeasts elected a new executive committee at a meeting in Lebowakgomo on Sunday where Nkate Mahlase was elected chairperson. Mahlase has been a big fan of Wildbeasts who used to travel to Durban, East London, Katlehong and Tshwane to watch softball games.

"We are delighted Zororo Lodge have come on board to sponsor our association," said Wildbeasts' new communications and marketing manager Vincent Seteno. "There will be something to play for this season and this bodes well for the development of the ball game in the villages and townships of Limpopo.

"We have assembled a great team for men and women and we want to become the inaugural champions of the new league. We hope to start seeing softball once more becoming a popular sport and dominating the national teams in both men's and women's sections."

Former softball leader Pat Moyaha has hailed the election of Mahlase and strongly believes he will take Wildbeasts to greater heights.

"Nkate has been passionate about softball for a long time and I applaud the Wildbeasts family for roping him in as their new leader," Moyaha said.

Simon Muroa was elected secretary, Steven Chuene manager and Abram Matemane treasurer.

Meanwhile, LSA will hold a council meeting in Polokwane on Sunday to elect its new office bearers.
