Kallis entrenches himself with sheer guts

A SUPERB knock of 109 by Proteas star batsman Jacques Kallis has put his side in a match-winning position coming into the final days play of the third Test today.

At the close of play South Africa were all out for 341 - a lead of 339 over India.

Carrying a side strain and with his teammates falling around him, Kallis entrenched himself with sheer guts and class to record back-to-back centuries and his 40th Test ton.

Coming into the days play already two wickets down, the Indians smelt Proteas blood early on and it was just the second over of the day when spinner Harbhajan Singh removed Hashim Amla (2) followed by opener Alviro Petersen (22).

Since producing a swashbuckling century at Centurion little more than a fortnight ago, AB de Villiers suddenly appears to be terribly out of sorts. His dismissal performance yesterday mirrors that.
