A mother and toddler found dead in a dumpster were killed by 'blunt force trauma' to the head and brain
The deaths of Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela, 25, and her two-year-old son Brian Palaguachi have been deemed homicides by the medical examiner, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
Mother and son were discovered inside a dumpster behind their apartment building in Brockton, Massachusetts, some 25 miles south of Boston around 9:30 p.m. local time Sunday night after an anonymous tip led police to the bodies, authorities said.
Palaguachi-Cela was last seen on Thursday at her home, they said.
The attack did not appear to be random, Cruz said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
