DA, EFF move to unseat ANC in Mogale City

The DA will try once more to unseat an ANC mayor, Patrick Lipudi, in the Mogale City local municipality, west of Johannesburg.

Lipudi is the third mayor in the municipality since last year's municipal elections.

Yesterday, the EFF announced that it had expelled its six PR councillors who in July voted with the ANC during a council meeting.

The EFF has consistently been voting with the DA in municipalities in Gauteng.

Yesterday, DA Gauteng leader John Moodey said the party would consider unseating the ANC once more.

"It is something that we are considering. We are going to have negotiations with our coalition partners, who include the EFF. We would have acted similarly [by expelling councillors]," Moodey said.

EFF national spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said the party had to take "harsh" action because the councillors did not relent. He said the councillors had the right to appeal.
