Government says it knows the people behind the violent protests which has engulfed the City of Tshwane in the past 24 hours.

“We know the people who are involved. We know them but we are not going to actually have an investigation in public. We treat the matter with the sensitivity it deserves. The intelligence services‚ police‚ Hawks and prosecuting authority are looking at these individuals. That is why we are referring to some arrests that have been made. We will not be in a position to announce that we are investigating so and so. We would be defeating the ends of justice‚” said State Security Minister David Mahlobo.

He added: “Even if people are planning‚ you cannot just go and arrest. We are able to do certain things that are counter measures. From the intelligence tradecraft‚ we are able to spot the information‚ validate it and act on it.”
