SABC in future to advertise jobs and tenders in-house

The SABC has taken a decision to end external advertising for jobs and tenders in any print or other media‚ dispensing with use of external marketing channels.

The SABC had on Friday further decided to create several African language television channels as part of its ongoing digital migration strategy‚ SABC spokesman Kaiser Kganyago said on Sunday.

The decisions on advertising had been taken for business reasons‚ while the broadcaster had decided it had or could develop sufficient in-house expertise‚ and did not require external agencies.

The broadcaster is currently under financial pressure‚ and is expected to face cash-flow challenges in the next three years due to SA migration to digital terrestrial television.

The SABC failed to meet its commercial revenue targets for the 2014/2015 financial year‚ citing factors of increased competition in the market and even load shedding‚ the SABC annual report for 2014/2015 reads.
