NPA reinstates charges against former Hawks boss

The National Prosecuting Authority is reinstating charges against former Hawks boss Anwar Dramat‚ former Gauteng police chief Shadrack Sibiya anmd Captain Lesley Maluleke linked to a renditions case that resulted in the killing and torture of two Zimbabweans in 2010‚ according to reports.

The three men are facing charges of kidnapping‚ defeating the ends of justice and illegal deportation charges‚ Eyewitness News (EWN) and ECNA television news station said.

EWN quoted the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as saying these charges arise from the arrest of seven Zimbabwean immigrants in November 2010 and January 2011 and their subsequent illegal deportation or rendition.

NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku was reported as saying: “The three will appear in court over the next two weeks. Arrangements are underway between the prosecution and their legal teams.”
