The National Assembly will debate Democratic Alliance's (DA) motion to impeach President Jacob Zuma.

Fireworks are expected to go off today when the house hears motion put forward by DA leader Mmusi Maimane to force President Zuma out of power.

The DA moved, in August, to have Zuma impeached for allowing Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir to leave the country despite a court order.

"The events that led to the escape of Al Bashir represent a clear violation of the President’s oath to “obey, observe, uphold and maintain the Constitution and all other law of the Republic,” and serve as nothing less than grounds for his removal from office in terms of section 89(1)(a) of the Constitution," said Maimane in August.

It is still unclear whether DA will enjoy the backing of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Although the EFF wants Zuma out of power, they do not support the grounds put forward by the DA.

The EFF leader Julius Malema applauded Zuma in Parliament for not arresting the 'African leader'.

The Sudanese president is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes in the Darfur conflict.
