Vladimir Vermezovic (VV) has vacated his post as the Orlando Pirates coach with immediate effect.

This comes after the Soweto giant’s poor performance since the Serbian’s reign.

Pirates fans called for VV’s head after their 2-1 loss to Maritzburg United on Tuesday evening.

“Orlando Pirates Head Coach Vladimir Vermezovic has today submitted his resignation from the club. VV provided the club with a thirty day notice period as required by labour law in South Africa. Orlando Pirates has accepted VV’s resignation,” read the club’s website.
“VV stated in his letter that he is prepared to furnish the reasons for his sudden resignation to the Orlando Pirates Football Club Chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza.”

Eric Tinkler will take the team forward as a Caretaker coach until end of season.

“We have accepted VV’s resignation. The stability of the team is always a pressing priority. Eric Tinkler will again assume the role of Caretaker Coach until the end of the 2014/2015 season," said Dr Khoza.

“I will sit down with VV in an exit interview to hear him out. I naturally wished that he stayed longer and had more success at Orlando Pirates. He has however added the Nedbank Cup and Carling Black Label Cup success at Orlando Pirates to his list of achievements. I wish him well into the future,” Dr Khoza added.
